Charity cycle ride raises £1000s for Mountbatten

In its first fundraiser, Mortgage Decisions looks set to raise £5000 for Mountbatten Hampshire, the terminal care hospice charity it adopted just two months ago.

Teams from Mortgage Decisions along with those from Mortgage Decisions and Trinity Rose Chartered Surveyors powered their way through a sponsored virtual bike ride from Southampton to Glasgow in an epic all-day endurance event.

Led by Alain Amos, Managing Director of Mortgage Decisions, the 18 cyclists set off at 7am at David Lloyd in West End, who kindly hosted the event in their reception. By the time they reached the Southampton to Glasgow distance at 5.45 pm, they were well on their way to reaching their £5000 target.

Since then, donations have continued to pour in for the charity that supports patients with terminal illnesses and their families with expert, compassionate end-of-life care in their own homes, a care home, or in its renowned inpatient unit at the hospice building in West End.

‘This was our first fundraising event,’ revealed Alain. ‘We made a commitment to Mountbatten Hampshire when we adopted the charity to wholeheartedly support its work through a number of sponsored activities. It costs the charity £7 million a year to provide its services that support over 3000 people across Southampton City and West Hampshire and we’re determined to help make a difference.

‘I know from experience how vital the work of the nurses and doctors is to their patients having seen my mother spend her final days in a hospice. I’m overwhelmed that the efforts made by our team during this event have already raised so much money for the charity – it’s a fantastic achievement.’

The next fundraiser for Mountbatten Hospice will take place in September when two of our staff members, Stephanie Phillips-James and Simon Aston, will part in the Winchester Half Marathon.

Jack and Russell were absolutely amazing and helped me secure my first mortgage with no problems at all. As a first time and solo buyer it is all very daunting but they explained everything to me and I could trust that I was in good hands regarding the securing of my mortgage offer. Their communication was brilliant as I usually had a response to any questions within a day and my mortgage offer came through so fast. Thank you!
